I enjoyed it very much - it was a little outrageous at times, but not over the top...

I can tell you right now, it is hype and I haven't even seen it.

Did George Burns get his butt chewed by certain sectors of America for the "Oh God" movies. I think he did.

I say it's over the line. Any show that depicts Christ as tolerant of the events in that town isn't one I want to watch. It would be a good concept as a purely religious show, meaning that if it were a show about Christ's guidance for the priest and the lessons he teaches it would be alright, because then at least it would be preaching the right things. This show though, with Jesus as a comedian or a figure purely for intrigue and the occasional pun is over the line.

I just steer clear of shows like this.
The only thing lower than a bashing religion TV shows is a show about lawyers.
There is absolutly nothing redeeming about lawyers.
There is enough quality programs on the Military channel, History Channel, TCM and Spike TV to keep me happy.

well.. it doesnt really make fun of religion, and nobody said is was jesus.. (i know it's supposed to be him though)

if you cant joke about religion.. i dont know.. it just seems to keep everybody from hating we poke fun at religion..

i make fun of my baptist friends.. and they make fun of 'the catholic'.. its all in good fun, just like i think the tv show is.. showing that not even ministers lives are perfect
i m better than you, so just give up...

I agree that there's nothing wrong with joking around with religion from time to time, but I think there is a difference between making fun of someone because they are Catholic or Baptist or whatever (all in good fun of course), and making a false or inaccurate depiction of Jesus on national television. Just my opinion though.
