Looks like the Porn industry lost out in this one and Sony avenged the defeat of Beta in the 80's at the hand of the gods of porn

I would have to imagine it don't being that I do recall some info on how the PS3 offered it but not the 360.
    Can anyone confirm or un-confirm?

    Thanks!
Blu-ray won't work with the 360 it would needed to have a blu-ray disk reader built in from the start. In Europe they were bundling HD-DVD players with the 360's when the PS3 was released as a spoiler tactic, dunno if they were doing the same across the pond though.

By the time there is a clear winner, I'm sure you'll be able to get a Blu-Ray player for 100 bucks or less anyway...

There is an official winner, and it's blu-ray.
You will continue to see a limited amount of HD-DVD (or HD-DUD as we blu fanboys call it) in stores until roughly the end of March as Toshiba will be liquidating all of their HD-DUD inventory.

Universal has announced plans for blu releases, and Paramount is currently in the process of readying an official statement on a switch to blu, which will cap off support from all major 7 studios. http://www.tvpredictions.com/universal021908.htm

And as for the price drop, it will still probably be some time until you see a quality $100 player.
However, players are expected to reach the $200 mark in the coming months according to analyst Claudio Checchia (http://www.tvpredictions.com/bluprices021908.htm)

And for anyone still doubting whether blu-ray is the official victor

Sorry if that was a little excessive, but I've been backing blu for the last 2 years and have waited a long time for this.

Is blue ray really that much better? I've never seen a video on blue ray.

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

    Just some baisic info-

If you have a HDTV, yes it is.
Especially if you have a 1080p set, but even with a 720p/1080i set (which is what I have) there is a clear difference between DVD and Blu-Ray.
If you do not own a HDTV, then no, there will be no difference as your set cannot display the high-def resolution of Blu-Ray.

Another piece of very basic info that many casual consumers do not know is that- Yes, Blu-Ray players Do play standard DVDs as well.

Blu ray discs are way more expensive though aren't they?

Yes, typically new releases are $10 more than their standard DVD counterparts.
But Amazon usually has some good 2 for one deals and such, but you are getting a lot more-

    DVD: Single layer- 4.7 GB

    Blu-Ray: Single layer- 25 GB

    Dual layer -
    9.4 GB

    Dual layer -
    50 GB

So, you can see why it costs more.
Most Blu-Ray discs are 50 GBs, so you're getting 40 more GBs

That would be my question also.

Several people here are touting how much better blue-ray is than HD, but how many of them have actually seen anything on Blue-Ray & compared it to HD?

I guess I don't need crystal clear picture for the much higher cost. Now, if I was absolutely rich then I would probably waste my money and buy the better quality stuff, but since I'm absolutely in debt, I choose the cheaper stuff!! lol
