A renewable energy source designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is contributing more to global warming than fossil fuels, a study suggests.

Measurements of emissions from the burning of biofuels derived from rapeseed and maize (corn) have been found to produce more greenhouse gas emissions than they save.

Other biofuels, especially those likely to see greater use over the next decade, performed better than fossil fuels but the study raises serious questions about some of the most commonly produced varieties.

Talk about resurrecting an obscure thread. But at least it breaks all the threads about:

Carbon Dioxide is about .5% of the greenhouse gasses. All this global warming is stuff to keep people scared and to keep 2nd and 3rd world nations from developing by using coal power and other carbon producing methods of electricity, all while delaying the coming energy crisis in the U.S. that will entirely crush our economy.
Global warming is caused by sun activity which can be measured by the number of sunspots and CO2 levels always come AFTER the oceans are warmer, not the other way around. The entire basis of recent documentaries don't mention that dead bacteria cause more CO2 per year than all human CO2, not to mention ocean evaporation, volcanoes and decaying animals and plants or that most "agreeing scientists" never put their names on that list and can't get themselves off of it. I have a hybrid because I like getting 50MPG and it doesn't emit emissions. I also drive a 390 ford galaxie.
