Eight decades after it was invented in a Faribault kitchen and began its long run at the Minnesota State Fair, the Tilt-A-Whirl soon may share a lofty distinction with blueberry muffins and monarch butterflies: the official state something.
In this case, the official state amusement ride.

The Owatonna People's Press reports that state Rep. Patti Fritz, DFL-Faribault, has introduced a bill to so elevate the venerable if tame progenitor of such rocket-and-plummet rides as Chaos, the Zipper and Bonzai.

Fritz said she is acting on behalf of 52 powerful constituents: kindergarten students proud that something invented in their town has been such an enduring success.

The ride features seven four-passenger cars spinning independently on a platform. The first models were built of wood by Herbert Sellner in his Faribault home in 1926, and the Tilt-A-Whirl debuted at the fair a year later. Sellner Manufacturing in Faribault still produces the ride.
Tilt-a-Whirls are awesome and always a ride I head straight to first thing when I hit the amusement parks or midways.

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Get the Vikes a stadium, don't worry about a state amusement park ride.

Does this mean it is replacing the current 'official state amusement ride'; i.e. Randy Moss' car bumper .... ?

    ???
When we stop to think about it, most folks behavior isn't perplexing after all !
