im sure we dont have millions of people who move over there and never adapt to there language
yeah i could really care less if the where visiting the country and didnt know who to speak English but if there gonna live here u gotta adapt and learn how to speak the language
Shouldn't the sign say "speak American"?
English is for England and the global Commonwealth.
No, we won the war so we can say whatever English or splanglish we want.
And if those dang Brits don't like it they can geeeeet out.
They still speak old English. Hell, they even still say it with an accent. The Brits haven't mastered modern English yet.

At the point of climax in a sexual encounter, it's reported they still scream, "I'm arriving....I'm arriving."

Yea, but we don't move to those countries and never pick up the local language,
    We don't?

Right. Cause we're Americans! F*** YEAH! Americans would never do such a thing.

Obviously there are exceptions to every cause, but I think there are citizens of certain countries more likely to move somewhere and not pick up the language.
Not sure if it's caused from laziness, unwillingness, stupidity, or if they just don't give a shit because we enable them.
    I'm leaning towards the later.

If I moved to Germany or Finland (or wherever) I would try my damndest to pickup the language.
I'd be a jackass if I didn't and istead expected the majority of the population to adapt to me!

Agreed, not to mention this country (and all of your ancestors) were immigrants, whom, more than likely, didn't speak english.

I was on an airplane the other day and they were letting the overseas flights take-off before us. Some redneck called the stewardess over and said, "Why they lettin' these foreigners
    leave before us... it's unamerican..."

So much for being the "Melting Pot" that our forefathers envisioned.
    Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

The "speaking english" complaint is not directed towards the people of foreign lands who are in the U.S. visiting...
But rather the residents who have lived here for several years and refuse (or are too incompetent) to study or pickup on the english language.
It's not that complicated and is the least somebody can do.

My grandmother and mother were German immigrants and neither of them knew English when they arrived. It took both of them years to get it.

The point is your German granparents did learn the language.
I'm sure it wasn't very easy but they put the effort and time into it and adapted to their new culture.

I hate blind people too by the way...nothing ruins a good day like running into a blind person.
