Re: Attention problems linked to early TV viewing

The link was established by a long-term study of the habits and behaviors of more than 1,000 children born in Dunedin, New Zealand, between April 1972 and March 1973.
Given that most of the programming consisted of sheep-related matters then this survey musty have serious implications for those living over the border in Wisconsin
    ;D
Add that to a constant diet of "Brett Favre - the golden years "
programmes and you're gonna end up with some seriously dysfunctional people....
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Re: Attention problems linked to early TV viewing

Watching television more than two hours a day early in life can lead to attention problems later in adolescence, according to a study released on Tuesday.
    What a bunch of bullshit.
A perfect example of misconstruing the statistical results.

    This is a correlational study.
Correlation does not, and can not, imply causation.
It cold be just as easily reported that attention problems in adolescents can lead to watching more than two hours of TV per day.
Or there could be a third variable, such as lack of parental attention that leads to both increased TV watching and attention problems in adolescents.

This author is skewing the interpretation to support their own preconceived explanation.

Someone accused me of doing that the other day at work.
He threw in a "Damn Analyst" at the end though.
