Are Athletes Overpaid?
Just got done having this discussion with a co-worker. It is one of those things that can't really be proved either way and will fall to the way of opinion.
I find it funny that people always cry about athletes and their salaries but never really touch on actors or other entertainers. My friend suggested it was because he didn't think people should be paid to play a game.
I argue sports, football in particular is much more then a game, and that they only make so much money because they generate so much more money for the clubs.
Sound off if you feel the need.

Are Athletes Overpaid?
i voted yes. and my main reason for doing it is im still pissed that there is no NHL season this year. the players are paid way too much. but its in every sport too. no one is worth 25 million a year, but A Rod is getting that in baseball. to be paid that much you better be getting the MVP every year.
another thing, im sick of athletes holding out. its a damn job, you shouldnt be able to skip training camp and the first weeks of the season because you feel under paid."the only diffrence between suicide and martyrdom is the press coverage"

I just don't see them as overpaid, I mean they make so much damn money because they bring in so much revenue. Ethically maybe, but logically it isn't too much.
I also eat paint.

Are Athletes Overpaid?
I think ANYONE that makes over $500,000 a year is overpaid.
Unless, of course, it was me (no chance of THAT happening).
Teachers are worth $100,000 a year easy.

I just don't like it. They want more, the owners want more and we are stupid enough to keep paying the increased ticket prices. It is a never ending cycle.
I am just as guilty as the next guy.

If there are owners that are willing to pay them, then they should get paid! Is it getting ridiculous? Yes. Is there going to be a decrease in the amount that athletes make? No (other than hockey players). Hey, if my boss offered me a mil, I'd take it in a heart beat!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

If they shouldn't get paid that much what do you suggest the owners do with all the money that is made?

When a professional athlete states he has no money to feed his family so he is holding out on his contract. thats when you know they are making way to much money. I wish I had money like he does to eat lobster and shrimp for breakfast lunch and dinner.
