Anybody want to see a bunch of jugs next weekend?

No, this isn't a "two beer minimum" thread. Try not to be too disappointed, Singer.

This is about the annual Battle of the Jug Bands being held at the Cabooze on Feb. 11th.

I've been making the trip up to the twin cities for a few years now to go to (and sometimes play in) this thing. It's basically a good excuse to visit college buddies, and drink ourselves silly for a weekend. The years where we make it on the schedule, we make up band name, practice Friday and Saturday (when we're not drinking), and play in the battle on Sunday. For some reason, we've never won the thing. In the past, we've called ourselves "Amish Power Company" (which was our band name in college) and "Fat, Drunk, and Stupid" (it's no way to go through life, son). This year, we'll be called "The West Bank Temperance League".

Like I said, one of the guys that I was in a band with in College grew up, and still lives, in Minneapolis. I don't know how he started going to it, except that his folks fit in really well with the crowd there, so I assume he grew up going to the thing. He got us hooked on it, and now it serves as a way to make sure that we all get together at least once each year.


I'd love to know if there's anyone here besides me that goes to this thing. I know it's a long shot, 'cause this is a pretty weird event, but It'd still be cool to know.

Well, I guess by how quickly this thread got pushed to the second page that no one else is ging to this thing. Well, if anyone does show up, look for the tallest guitar player in the West Bank Temperance League. That's me. Stop by and say hi.

Well, it's almost that time again. The 2008 battle is coming up. It's not next weekend. It's the weekend after the Superbowl, on February 10th. The place is still the same. This is my one guaranteed trip to Minneapolis each year, so if anyone here happens to show up to this event, find me and say hi. I'll be the tall guitarist in the West Bank Temperance League that's acting like he doesn't know what's going on.
