For all you high-tech folks, a question
My buddy has a HD projector with HDMI, RCA, S-Video and moniter cable inputs, and we want to run basic cable into it out in our lounge, with the best possible picture quality. we had it hooked up to my laptop with the TV tuner earlier, but that's a little inconvenient and if there was another way to do it more directly, that would work great for us. I've seen the VCR method mentioned, but I was wondering if anyone had heard of anything more creative than that which will give us better quality. We are trying to avoid an RF modulator because those take the quality down.

I run one of those as well.
Just get a long ass HDMI cable from partsexpress.com.
Don't mess around with anything but component or HDMI, it's a horrible quality signal comparatively. HDMI>=DVI>Component>>Monitor (RG-15 I think) S-video>RCA.

That makes sense thor, the only problem we have is that the signal is coming from a standard cable coax connection, and there's no cable input on the projector, and we don't want to buy expensive hardware.

Damn.... you should seriously consider that.
MOST cable boxes have multiple outputs and you can utilize multiple ones.... (I use an HDMI to my projector and component to my computer monitor) personally.
If you only have the coax to work with, you're going to have to look at an adapter then... partsexpress.com probably has what you would need...
