Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in '03

In 2003, when he won the American League home run title and the AL Most Valuable Player award as a shortstop for the Texas Rangers, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids, four sources have independently told Sports Illustrated.

I'm a huge Cubs fan, I hate the Yankees, but A-Rod has been my favorite player since '96 or whenever he came in. I was excited about the fact he was gonna CLEANLY destroy Bonds' career home run record. Now who knows what the truth is?

The truth is that he has used 2 forms of anabolic steroids. For how long, who knows? Maybe since 1998?

So now we have an idea where the name "A-Fraud" came from...maybe it should be changed to "A-Roid".

This disgusts me...when his name was not mentioned in the Mitchell report, I thought maybe he was clean. But it's also come to light that a guy from the Players Association has tipped him off to "random" drug tests the past few years. What an "A-joke".

I heard this on the radio this morning and just laughed. Does anyone really care that they are taking the drugs? Baseball was the best when bigmac and slammin sammy sosa were hitting homeruns every second at bat. We need another home run battle such as that.

4 annonymous sources is completely worthless. The media today just regurgitates what others say. So 4 people heard a rumor, big deal.
Not saying he did or didn't just that we have no evidence.

He can't be suspended because of the agreement the union made with the MLB back in 2003.

Agreed, as much as I'd like to see it not mean anything, the anonymous sources and info coming forward seems pretty legitimate.

Too bad it tarnishes a great name.

I'm interested in what A-Rod's statement to the press will be about this.

My opinion on steroids in baseball isn't too strong though. They add strength to players, which will translate to ball distance and bat speed if they train properly, and help to speed recovery times. But one thing they can't do is put the bat on the ball.

I still believe Barry Bonds is the second best player to ever play the game(behind Babe Ruth of course,) despite his steroid use.

We'll see how this turns out. But it's looking bad for A-Rod.

He did say, "talk to the Player Union."

    Bonds...get the fuck outta here.
