A lively discussion between Internet users all over the country, even the world, took place on the Eagles-Vikings game page on purplepride.org during the teams’ match-up a few weeks ago. But after 7,351 comments, one user made a point that all of the other commenters, including the many drunk or mentally disabled ones, agreed with completely.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said commenter Webby. “I was typing up my next post about how McNabb is a total homo, and then all of a sudden this very reasonable, well thought out post with perfect spelling and grammar popped up. I was tempted to post ‘Get lost, newbie! Stop trolling for little boys!’ But instead I just shut my laptop, enjoyed the game and then went for a walk and enjoyed the crisp, winter air.”

Commenter Marrdro said the comment’s arrival at the top of the thread is a moment he will remember for forever.

“I forget what a bunch of us were arguing about,” he said. “I think we were going back and forth with Eagles fan saying Philadelphia is a sh-thole and then they were saying that Minneapolis is a sh-thole. Anyway, then this guy came in a said something smart and totally blew my mind. I’ve never heard someone say something smart about football. Not in a game thread, and not even on TV or the radio.”

“I eventually deleted the post and banned the poster’s IP address,” he said. “These boards have a certain standard. We can’t have that sort of stuff killing the discourse and traffic. If it’s not idiotic, uninformed, juvenile, or a racial or sexual slur, it’s not something we want around here.”
