6-Year-Old Minn. Boy Brings Pot to School

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- When a teacher asked a 6-year-old boy to pull a folder out of his Scooby-Doo backpack, a bag filled with 25 smaller bags of marijuana fell out instead, a court document said.

The teacher gave the drugs to a school administrator, who called police. Before officers arrived at HOPE Community Academy, the boy's father showed up. He took the backpack from his son and quickly walked away, according to a criminal complaint.

The father was later arrested and told investigators he hid the marijuana in the backpack, and left it in a bedroom closet. When he discovered the backpack was missing, he ran to his son's nearby school.

Corey Randle, 29, was charged Thursday with a fifth-degree drug-sale charge.

What a crazy world. In a similar story here in Pennsylvania. I 29 yo man went into an Ace hardware and walked out with $180 worth of tools that he intended to sell for drug money. When the employees tried to chase him down he fled leaving his 5 y/o step daughter in a car with the engine running just around the corner. They caught the guy 2 days later when he tried to return home.

I know I missed the point of the story, but come on. The pot was in a Scooby Doo bag? I laughed, I admit it.

I'm so proud of my son.. To share like that with his classmates brings a tear to me eye.. :grin:

On a serious note. What in hell is that father thinking? Putting pot in a backpack that he knows his son may take to school. I just don't get why parents would want that crap around their children. Its time grow up and be a parent and quit the crap.

I personally do not smoke pot. However I do believe a person should have the right to grow it and smoke it as freely as they would like. The goverment has no right regulating a non addictive drug in this manner. Especially a drug that to many can help tame pains in there bodies. Granted it is currently illegal and in no way should have that father placed the pot in the kids school bag. From what I understand on reports circulating in the twin city area the school bag was actually not even the kids he had found it the morning of the school day and liked the bag so he took it to school . He placed all his school equipment in the bag not noticing the baggies in the bag. Now I really dont know how that would have possible considering the bags more than likely had to fill the bag up at least half way. BUt he was only 6 years old so I am wondering if maybe he just didnt notice. Anyways its a strange mess.
