London, March 5 : Chatting and texting on the cell phone accounted for about six million injuries in Britain last year, according to a new survey.
William Ostrom of phone directory service 118118, which conducted the survey 1,055 adults, revealed that many subjects admitted to getting hurt crashing into lampposts, bollards and bins while texting or talking on their mobiles.

Agreed...the strange part about these 6 million people hurt is that it doesn't include drivers, only people hurt while walking. ???Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Mencken

Here is a link to an interesting site, it lets you search for all kinds of accidents that have occurred in the UK, some of the statistics are unbelievable, for example in 2001 nearly 800 people were hurt by a biscuit
??? or in 2002 over 67000 people had an accident while "shopping".
