Fried squid, also known as "Calamari" is very good and probably the easiest way for someone to accept for the first time to try..

I'de say it's a cross between fried clam strips and fried shrimp.....

If you see it in a restaurant (usually italian restaurants ) I suggest trying it. Most places serve it with a side of their Pasta Sauce (Red Spagetti type) and you can dip it in that.....

It is very good......But personaly, I'll eat it in a number of ways.....

I'll post some pics of the catch tomorrow.....

Ned, I am Italian, and I can honestly say that I have never tried squid before. I don't intend to either.. I will take your word for it, but I just can't see myself eating squid.. ukeright:

Re: With 6 to 9 ft. seas predicted for the weekend, I'll be.....

How does 20 plus MPH winds in your face, stinging rain, soggy dorito's, and wet matches sound?...

The conditions where terrible, and the squid almost non-existent...

I only got 6 and my friend got the same number 6...

Just really bad conditions and the squid shut down.....

But even with the bad comes good when fishing or squiding....

We had a ton of laughs, and just being at the ocean and relaxing with a dear friend is better than sitting on a couch...

We will be trying again next week for sure.....Just two nights before, people where going home with 100 plus squid apiece, this we where told by some locals that gutted it out with us..

I'll be frying up the 6 I did get last night, today......Bait supply will have to wait..

It would be easy to say we killed them and came home with 200 apiece.....But I'm not much for stretching the truth....You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to fishing and squiding....

I have gone deep sea fishing many times, and it is nothing compared to Minnesota, unless you catch a marlin of course

    Have a blast Ned.
I sometimes do nightfishing and my biggest catch was a 3.6 kilo Carp.
i know that's not much but i don't care, just go out and be the whole day at the water makes my day.

    Catch me one
Nice Mr.Holland, I used to Carp fish all the time, we have some real monsters in the river here....My biggest ever was 34 pounds...I guess that would be about 12 kilo's....
They are the hardest fighting fish I know......For their size that is...Them and bluefish.....
I hooked into one yesterday..maybe about 20 lbs, the fun part was i got it to shore using ultra-light equipment..fun to say the least.

Interesting. I've eaten a lot of squid but have never gone after it fishing. Neat to see the lures.

Hey Ned! I don't care much for squid, but come next weekend I'll be fishing off the island of Fedje, Norway! My grandfather was raised a fisherman so it's in my blood! Let you know what I catch!

    Fedje,

Next to my home in the Philippines, there is a gentalman from Norway who is retired and his wife is a Filapina.....He built a very nice place on the oceanside on the Island of Cebu , PI's...

When I'm there, I often visit him and relax by the ocean on his beautful deck....We share fishing stories all the time, I used to commerical fish myself when younger and thats what he did for a living..

I'm sure your Dad knows all to well about Cod, Haddock, Polluck...

Those are some of the most abundent fish in Norway, plus the lobsters are great I hear.......I'm sure they get their share of squid up in those cold waters also....

I hope you can bring back lots of pics to share...
