500-Pound Man Rescued After 12 Hours In River

500-Pound Man Rescued After 12 Hours In River

Grantsburg, Wis. Crews rescued a man from the St. Croix River at Fox Landing, near Grantsburg, Wis. after he spent 12 hours stuck in the water. Authorities said the man's weight was a mitigating factor in his delayed rescue.

At about 8:15 p.m. Monday, authorities received a call of someone with a medical condition needing assistance.

According to the Pine County Sheriff's Office, a group had gone tubing on the river when the tube of a man weighing at least 500 pounds went flat about two miles south of Fox Landing.

After attempted to get out of the water and walk back, the man began having chest pains.

once when I was young my parent took me tubing down apple river, the current was very strong and a large woman got stuck and couldn't get out and my dad had to go in and help her. My guess is there was a lot of alcohol involved in both cases, why else would you go tubing.

Good thing he did not fall asleep on the river bank.
They would have drug him back into the water.

Smart man, put on the extra poundage so he doesn't have to worry about hypothermia, only heart attacks.
