The 25-Cent Flood Protection Device
Why are we still using sandbags to keep rivers from overflowing?

I've seen the RDFW in use - it is pretty damn cool and easier to deploy than sandbags.
The big problem with them is that they take up several times more space in shipping.
Haven't see that Barrier thing yet, but it too looks petty interesting.
The big draw for sandbags are they are cheap, easy to transport, and anyone can use them.Zeus wrote:

The entire Winona (town where I grew up)
flood dike that remains today was built on top of all the sandbags that were left in place after the great flood of 1965.
