2-time Grandma's Marathon champion killed in Kenya
wow makes you remember. what things are like in other parts of the world

It's roughly 8,000 miles from the violence in Kenya to the peaceful city of Duluth, but tragedy narrowed that distance Monday.
The longtime director of Grandma's Marathon was stunned when word filtered back that two-time champion Wesly Ngetich had been killed by an arrow during fighting in his home region of Trans Mara in western Kenya.

Wow, really makes you stop and think how lucky we are to not be living in conditions like that.

Re: 2-time Grandma's Marathon champion killed in Kenya
Without getting into a political hot button topic, I will just say this.... We are so far removed from the third world situations that it is pathetic.
While we sit at home and play Play Station, some poor African souls are part of a genocide.
The Genocide is something separate from the Kenyan situation but it is part of the same unstable situations that causes death all over Africa.
As an individual, it is difficult to see how we can help. We trust in leaders to do what is right.
My question is, are they?
This isn't a political party problem.
This isn't a US problem, this is a world problem.
The UN?
The G8?
If the Governments of the modern countries don't care are we expected to care as individuals.
It is sad that this gentleman from Kenya died, but the sad fact is he is just one of hundreds of thousands that died unnecessarily in Africa.
I was wrong, they are claiming genocide here also.
