Seen 'em all except Moulin Rouge, which I don't care one lick to see. Really, really wish I could take back having seen that clap-trap drivel Titanic. What a complete piece of shit that was.
In place of those two, which clearly don't belong, i would add 2001: A Space Odyssey and Citizen Kane (seriously, wtf?). I'd also put at least one of the Lord of the Rings films (or all three as a package) in place of Batman Begins. It was a great movie, don't get me wrong, but certainly isn't a movie everyone needs to see before they die.
Edit: I see now that this list was based on genre, with one supposedly "great" movie from each. Doesn't change the fact that the list is bullshit. Sixth Sense? Please.
Emelie???? Never seen it. I think it's a poor list.
Here's some of my favorites:
2001 Space Odyssey
Wizard Of Oz
Bridge On The River Kwai
On The Waterfront
I disagree with the Naked Gun.
It's a funny movie, but there could be so many more films in it's spot. One of the Lord of the Rings would have worked.
I also disagreed with The Sixth Sense.
I was thinking there would be one random existential movie at least, something like Donnie Darko, I <heart> Huckabee, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or something along those lines of a quirky movie that has deep deep philosophical meanings.
You'd have to pay me to get me to watch either Gone With the Wind or Moulin Rouge.
remember the titans
Rocky...and Cojo's list (and Forrest Gump), before many on this list.
BTW, has anyone not seen The Godfather?
Here's ten by Genre:
1) Drama - No Country for Old Men
2) Romance - Romancing the Stone
3) Classic - Casablanca
4) Action - Dark Knight
5) Sci-Fi - Terminator
6) Horror - The Exorcist
7) Teen - Wierd Science (I don't really like teen movies, never have)
8) Musical - The Producers ( I don't really like musicals), possibly, Something Funny Happened on the Way to the Forum
9) Comedy - The Rat Race ( not a well known flick, but it made me laugh)
10) Foreign - Das Boot (you don't need to read the sub titles to know what's happenin)
11) Porn- Caligula
The problem with lists is trying to categorize them by genre; and also, my mood when compiling the list. For instance, my top ten movies of all time will be different in a month, though 3 or four would remain the same.
My top ten movies:
1) Saving Private Ryan
3) Apocalpyse Now
7) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (cause ya have to think of them as one)
10) Fistful of Dollars
There's no suspense category, or cop movie or westerns.
