Ok, not only is it hilarious that they are there and Mich and ND are not...but then I looked at the FCS Coaches Poll (I-AA) Ranking and they are #1:

So, I guess a I-AA team can be ranked in the AP poll?
It would makes sense since it does not say the I-A poll.
I wonder how often this has ever happened.

Also, it is sweet to see my hometown team the NDSU Bison at #4!

wasn't this something that was just changed the wek after app state beat Michigan? I think it ment more then but now that the Wolverines lost to Oregon and quite possibly ND their votes would not mean as much IMO.

They are not the first I-AA team to get votes ... I know that Southern Illinois got votes after winning the 1983 I-AA title (did a Google search a few weeks ago) ... and I think some other ones have before. I cannot really think of one getting all the way in the top 25, but I know that some have gotten votes before.

They no longer call it I-A and I-AA,
They now call it Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly I-A), and Football Championship Subdivison (formerly I-AA).
Dont ask me how this affects the ratings, I just know they messed with some shit this year.

Yes, the AP changed their rules after Appalachian State beat Michigan to that voters can vote for ANY Division 1 school in the top-25 poll.
The Coach's poll (USA Today's) does not allow votes for Football Championship Division teams.

BTW - the NCAA is a bunch of morons if they think the new division names don't suck monkey ass.
