On a side note, I was watching the game at a bar this afternoon. There was a middle-aged guy there that happened to ask if UO was my alma mater. I said no, but that I'd become a Ducks fan during the 3 1/2 years I spent living in Eugene. I asked him whether he was a former Duck. He said that he was, and that he graduated from UO in '73 after having been good friends with and playing with Ahmad Rashad there (Rashad graduated in '72). I told him I knew all about Ahmad from having been a Vikes fan my whole life. Then he told me a story about how the day after Ahmad signed his first NFL contract (with St. Louis I think?), he showed up outside this guy's apartment in a brand new, "candy apple red" Cadillac Eldorado with a white hard top and white leather interior. Good shit.

Sad part is, I never was able to catch the guy's name because I had to leave in a hurry. I thought I heard someone call him Ron, but who knows? Hopefully I'll run into him again.

Dixon was great today, but last week he resembled a fish out of water, which is exactly his problem: inconsistency. If he has turned a corner Oregon should finish 1st or 2nd in the Pac-10 (I guarantee at some point either USC or Cal will implode). But even if he doesn't our double-headed monster in RB's Jonathon Stewart and Jeremiah Johnson(!) should be able to carry a good deal of the offensive load themselves.

Watching the LSU - Va Tech game on ESPN tonight, they were saying the LSU coach, who is a Michigan alum might be offered the job, and might take it if he is offered the job.
