Derek Anderson has a better shot at having success than any college player, I think. There is never a guarentee, but Anderson has put up really good numbers with a pretty bad team.
Then where do players like McNabb, Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer come from?
There's a thing called potential that some college QBs have that Anderson doen't.

I'd challenge that the Browns aren't as bad as you think they are.
He has two good options in Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow Jr.
Their O-line is improved with Joe Thomas and Steinbach.

We have Peterson, and nobody to throw to.
If Anderson is a free agent pick him up no doubt, but nobody should be trading a first or second rounder for him.
Well it has been said that a WR catching the ball is a result of nothing more than the QB making a correct decision first.

Doesn't appear to be a flash in the pan either.
Wonder what value you put on a 6th round draft pick, with stats like this?

    CMP
    ATT
    YDS
    CMP%
    YPA
    LNG
    TD
    INT SACK RAT
    119 209
    1744

    56.9
    8.34
    78
    17
    8

    8

    95.5

Seems to have a pretty decent completion ratio and must get it down the field a bit if he has a 8.34 yard completion average (Brady 9.1).

I still say if he is available for a 1rst round or a compliment of a 2nd in 2008 and 2009 you go get him.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Ask Spielman how decisions like that helped him get fired from the Dolphins.
Then again, he was good enough for this franchise
    :

We get a 2nd rounder for a multiple pro bowler and you want to trade a first rounder for a player with a handful of games under his belt.

    LOL.
You're just so farcical sometimes, it's highly amusing.

Derek Anderson is a "proven commodity"?
After 9 total starts in the NFL?
As opposed to "Matty Ice's" ZERO starts...heck yeah!
Please, Anderson hasn't proven anything other than he's A: Better than Charlie Frye and B: capable of leading a team to a 4-3 record, that's certainly worth a 1st rounder
    :
1st AND a 3rd (probably - depends on what tender CLE puts on him, but that's what ATL put on Schaub).

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Re: NFL Draft: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College: the Top Quarterback Prospect?

If Childress gets to choose, he will take the one QB who is not in Division 1 football.
I think that Woodson will be the best QB from this draft, but he won't fit in the WCO that Childress has a boner for.
We likely get stuck with Henne, a QB much like a Brian Griese.
I think Ryan is the best fit for the WCO, or maybe Flynn if we don not want to invest a high draft pick on QB this year for some reason.
My vote would be for a new offense and Woodson for our QB!
Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: NFL Draft: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College: the Top Quarterback Prospect?

Don't do it it's a trick! Why would the vikes waste AD's potential while we're looking for the "next" QB. Anderson would fit the mold as a good vet with a few good years left. No the browns are not that bad, but look at KWIII and edwards' numbers last year and the year before. I challenge that the vikes do not have as bad a team as it seems. If you think that the vikes have a worse O-line then the browns just take a look at how J Lewis is tearing it up.. oh wait HE'S NOT. You think our D can stay competitive while waiting on potential to emerge? I'm worried about what we could loose but I haven't taken a look at the top prospects at every position except QB so I can't say too much. This much I can say tho, if it comes down to drafting a QB with the first rounder or getting Anderson, I would take him every single day of the week. Oh yeah Anderson didn't just beat out Fry as the starter he's also holding off Brady Quinn who is almost a hometown hero. Think AJ and Mauer. I'd take AJ.
