Also pick a good conference, like Thor says, SEC is pretty good. Lots of good teams tehre. Pac 10 is shit. USC can put all second stringers out there and likely win the conference.
Except that USC isn't eligible to win the title, what with their NCAA penalties and such.

    =Z=
No bowl games, but they can finish first place in the conference. Maybe in the next few years, not so much without their scholarships.

Pick the closest team to where you were born, always worked for me.

    College sports suck!

If you must watch anyway, keep an open mind this season and root for any team you feel deserving of your support.

    LOL

sounds like good advice. I'll check out SEC teams, I'm not all about winning just makes it more interesting to watch when you have a stake in the proceedings.

SEC is a good way to go, as is Big 10. At the very least, you'll be in for some entertaining games. Watching Pac 10 or Big 12 games can suck for the most part, as there's 2 or 3 good teams, and a bunch of crap teams. As far as AP top 25 teams go:

    SEC: Alabama(1st), Florida(3rd) LSU(17th) Ole Miss(20th)
    Big 12: Texas(2nd) Nebraska(14th), Texas Tech(21)
    Big 10: OSU(5th) Iowa(7th) Penn St.(9th) Wisconsin(16th)
    Pac-10: Oregon (11th), USC(22)
    WAC: Boise St. (4th)
    MW: TCU(6th), BYU(12th), Utah (18th)
    Big East: Cincinatti(8th)PIttsburgh(15th), West Virginia(25)
    ACC: Virginia Tech(10th), Georgia Tech(13th), Miami(19th), Clemson(24)

What? The University of Portsmouth doesn't have a team?

Looks like you're going to be cheering for the University of Maine, according to Google Maps.

If you'd like add another team that will always let you down to your repertoire I highly recommend the University of Colorado Buffaloes. But I have to warn you that the football program just hasn't been the same since they stopped actively recruiting gang members. Now the coach just brings in his talentless son to play QB.

My other favorite team is Navy. How can you not like them? Plus Ricky Dobbs is a badass.

    Re:Need a Team to Support

I watched alot of Navy football in the past 10 years, since my HS ran a Veer offense much like Navy. Entertaining, but they're not very good.
