MJ's son drops basketball for books at Illinois
Jeff Jordan prepares for life after hoops
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Michael Jordan's son, Jeff, is leaving the Illinois basketball team after two seasons.
The former walk-on guard surprised nearly everyone Wednesday by announcing that he plans to focus on his studies, just a few months after Illinois coach Bruce Weber said Jordan had a chance to earn more playing time and even a leadership role during his junior year.
"I loved playing for the Fighting Illini and appreciate the support I was given by my teammates, coaches and the great fans here," Jordan in a statement. "But I have come to the point where I'm ready to focus on life after basketball."

So in other words he wasn't good enough to go anywhere with it? lol
Seriously though..good for him. That education has a far better chance of taking him where he needs to be than basketball.
Skol Vikings! Go Cubs!

I don't know how good he was, but if he had a reasonble shot at making a career out of professional basketball than I would have pursued that dream.
He always has dad to fall back on or pay for his education in a few years if it doesn't work out.
I'd much rather make my legacy playing professional basketball than electrical engineering.

Might want to make his own name for himself despite the amount of prestige associated with it.

Like Jerry Jones (Dallas Cowboy) son played pro football, but he still talked Daddy Jones into cutting TO.
I like the move, get paid and stay health.

Good for him cuz there is no way in hell he would live up to all the hype that the name Jordan carries with it.
I've seen him play and he was not going to be anywhere close to the level his father plays at.
Seems like he wants to carry on the Jordan legacy working the kick game.
He seems like he takes his fathers business seriously and will be looking to take over in the future for him.

The only way you are going to make this game more appealing to the public than it was before is if there are on field orgies at halftime and the domes become massive opium dens."
