Minnesota Gopher Basketball
The Gophers won tonight 88-52 without one of their starters. Their second win in a row. Granted these are pre-season games against lesser opponents but the Gophers are a drastically different team than last year. They have a LOT OF HUSTLE under Tubby Smith. They won tonight with McKenzie, a starter, out of the lineup with an injury.
Nolen, a freshman from Patrick Henty HS in Mpls,
never missed a shot. He made 6 for 6 including 5-5 on 3 pointers.
They established and inside game early and their fast break looked really good.
The regular season starts against Army this weekend.
Re: Minnesota Gopher Basketball
He, he, he!
Almighty Kentucky lost in basketball last night to a small college called Gardner Webb 84-68. I mean they didn't just lose, they got WHIPPED! The Cat's were OUTPLAYED, OUTHUSTLED and OUTCOACHED.
Gardner Webb which just came into Division 1 a few years ago and no one had heard of them. The coach said he had watched Kentucky's first [reseson games and noticed no one attacked them, so he did.
In the meantime Tubby is 2-0. Now I'm not saying Minnesota has a better team than Kentucky. But I'll bet the little green gremlin who said Tubby was a terrible coach and bragged about how much better the Wildcats would be under Gillispie is wondering right now. Welcome to Lexington, Kentucky Billy Gillispie. Have fun.
Re: Minnesota Gopher Basketball
Yeah, COJO, I saw that! Gotta love it when one of the big boys goes down!
Re: Minnesota Gopher Basketball
i still dont think tubby is going to be a good coach

Ohio State lost this week in a pre-season game,
too.
Re: Minnesota Gopher Basketball
Are you talking about the game against Southwest Minnesota State?
They're a division 2 team with a student body of less than 4,000.

Duuuuuh! Read my post! I mentioned they were a lesser team. But on the other hand so is Gardner Webb.
Re: Minnesota Gopher Basketball
A win is a win
U always play lesser teams in preseason.. Everyone knows that
Point was Tubby is showing a much better team then we had last year and Cojo, myself and lots of Minnesota fans are excited to see what happens this season
And TB.. Why do u think this? Say something besides u just dont think he will be good..

I know, but Gardener Webb is actually a much bigger school with a much better athletic program.
Mike Pavelko (former Eden Prairie star) turned down a football scholarship from Minnesota and opted for Gardner Webb instead.
I'm 100% certain you would never see a player offered a big-10 scholarship attend SMSU over big 10.
Gardner Webb is far superior to SMSU so let's not get too excited Cojo.
Also, weren't you all pumped about that DE (Whilite or something like that) who wasn't even ranked in the top 75 DE prospects by scout.com?
