Joe Pa granted the gift of sight

There are certain things we have come to expect in this world when it comes to certain high profile people. So when something drastically changes we have to do a double take, or in some cases a quadruple take.
We have come to expect Bono to wear translucent colored sun glasses in every environment he is in. We know that Cher will always go over the top in her wardrobe selections. It wouldn't be a college basketball game if Dick Vitale wasn't shouting terms like "PT-player" or "diaper dandy" and an ESPN College Football Game Day show would not be complete without Lee Corso placing a mascot head on his shoulders at the end of a broadcast. We almost demand that Elton John wear eccentric outfits when performing and we would be floored if Will Ferrell actually kept his pants on.
So when the photo of Joe Paterno without glasses was released by Scout affiliate Fight On State this afternoon you can probably imagine by shock when I loaded up the story of the Penn State coach's recent eye surgery. In fact my wife did not even recognize the leader for coaching victories at the FBS level until I told her who it was. According to the story by Mark Brennan Paterno underwent eye surgery after experiencing some problems reading over the last six months. The surgery was conducted by long time aquantence Dr. Stuart Fine, an ophthalmologist in Philadelphia's Penn Scheie Eye Institute.
"There are 3 things that sell in America:
Violence, sex, and drugs.
The only way you are going to make this game more appealing to the public than it was before is if there are on field orgies at halftime and the domes become massive opium dens."
