As for the Sun Devils, being an alumni, the finger are separated as they are the devils horns and the pinky is the tail.

But thanks for the education on the Shocker.

The Sun Devils gesture predates the popularity of the shocker.
Just like the Whichita State one.

But today, I find it hard to believe that the majority of college students don't know what the shocker is, and it probably makes the gesture that much popular...

I need no education on what the Shocker is.

And, apparently, your cheerleaders all have loose girly parts, so spreading the fingers is what it takes to fill 'em up.
Ok... If you say so Zeus.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, but from what you usually post that doesn't surprise me.

Sorry if I took it badly.
    If you throw in a
    , it would help.
I was also friends with several ASU cheerleaders, who would not take your comment, even as a joke, all that well.
Consider my comment defending their honor.

    No worries, bro.

    floop the Shocker.
That gesture is copied from my Houston Cougars, the Cougar Paw.
It's a long story, but we've been using that gesture at games for decades.
The Shocker is nothing more than a knockoff.

    The Cougar Paw

Graphic representation of The Cougar PawThe story of the Cougar Paw dates back to 1953, the first time UH played the University of Texas in football. Since this was their first meeting, members of Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity in charge of taking care of Shasta I, the university's mascot, brought her to the game. During the trip, Shasta's front paw was caught in the cage door and one toe was cut off. At the game, members of the opposing team discovered what had happened and began taunting UH players by holding up their hands with the ring finger bent. UT went on to win this game 28-7, and UH students began using the sign as notice that they would remember the taunts. In 1968, at their second meeting, the Cougars, holding up the now-adopted symbol of UH pride, played UT to a 20-20 tie. UH did not play UT again until 1976, the first year UH was a member of the Southwest Conference. In front of a record crowd, UH defeated UT 30-0.[36]

And Zeus, NO, not THAT kind of Cougar.

THE Shocker is not copied from anything other than last Saturday night at the Sorority house.
You all can debate which University first adopted this vaguely obscene gesture first, but the ACT of the Shocker has been around since man first discovered that some outputs are good for input.
