3-4 years down the road they will become an annual big ten title candidate

man they were so lucky to win tonite..southern illinois played as bad as it couldve possibly played and still lost on the final shot of the game..the missouri valley conference should no longer be considered a 'mid major'..when the MVC's best team shoots 30% and still stays within 3 points of the Big 12's best team that shoots 55%, the 'mid major' title should automatically be removed

Maybe not but I could see a team that is at least competitive next year. I think 2 years away for a Tourney Bid. Unless he can do some sort of recruiting mericle this year, but with 1 scholarship its not likey. Unless there is a big time player that has not committed somewhere.

Re: Gophers getting a Tubby for a coach

This is the best news for Gopher basketball in 10 years!

I was hoping they would get an established coach but I never expected tubby!
He gives the Gopher's instant credibility and what recruit doesn't know who Tubby is?

I am not saying we are National Championship bound but in 2 to 3 years we will be big dance mainstays and maybe compete for the big 10 title in a few years.

Maturi i have bad mouthed you and the way you handled Mason and Munson you deserved criticism but I have to give you credit for Brewster who I was initially very upset about but after hearing and seeing Brewster for a month I am more impressed with him then I thought possible.
And I give you credit for this coup and putting Minnesota Basketball back on the map!
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Hopefully he will be able to recruit and coach.

    I am glad.

Tubby is a good coach, definitely better than the ones we have had since Clem.

Re: Gophers getting a Tubby for a coach

    THANK YOU GOD!
I'm so glad he left Kentucky, you don't even know!
People have been throwing parties and going crazy down here where I'm at.
There was Facebook groups all over the place trying to get him out of here, petitions, and constant e-mails to the the AD at UK.
Now we have celebration Facebook groups.
What a great time to be a UK fan.

I see you Gopher fans getting excited about getting him, enjoy.
Perhaps he is sufficient for the Gophers but not anywhere near the caliber of coach UK needs.
His recruiting skills were pathetic and his game coaching skills were painful to watch.
In his first season he won the national title, true, but the pieces had already been put in place by the GREAT Rick Pitino.
Since then Tubby has shown his true colors and not returned UK to the Final Four.

With Tubby gone, UK is automatically back on its rise to greatness.
Currently I think Billy D., Rick P., and John Calipari are the main people we're wanting.
I would be happy with Billy or Rick but not so much with Calipari.
Imagine the story of Rick returning to his kingdom and fixing the ship, ooooooooooooooo man I love the thought of that.

    SO LONG TUBBY!
The best part of my day is when I get down on my knees, with my head in my hands, and thank GOD for everything he has given me.

It would be awesome to even think about dancing again!!

Could he just be getting lucky!

I mean he really botch the Football and Basketball decisions for way too long.

All I have to say is great move. Best thing that could happen to a struggling basketball program. I hope the Gophers make it back to the tourney in about 3 years. Go Tubbs.
