You should remember that the next time you go for a job interview.
If the guy you're interviewing with is sharp and accomplished, he might be an Amherst grad.

If he's stupid and a dullard, it's likely he went to the University of Louisiana.

=Z=
Of course, it could just as easily be the other way around...the Amherst grad could be someone who only got in because of Mummy and Daddy's money and scraped by with a C average while partying with their frat buddies...while the University of Louisiana grad worked his or her butt off to get as good an education as they could...working two jobs to get through school and getting a real-world education in the process.

You just NEVER know!
I work with PhDs every day that have degrees from schools all over the nation/world ranging from the private schools to the Yale/Harvards to the middle-of-the-road schools to everything inbetween.
The only constant is that there is no correlation between intelligence and the university(ies) that they went to.
There are idiots and there are intelligent people....the underlying rule still applies....everyone is an idiot (just some are relatively less of an idiot).

Cajun, I couldn't agree more with your comments.
The private colleges/universities tend to have a dichotomy of graduates: money or brains.
Maybe a trichotomy is a better explanation: some with intelligence, some with money, some with intellegence and money.
It all depends on the individual.
True dat!

what is the Jeffs mascot?
A guy (or a gal) in a Revolutionary War outfit used to be the mascot.

Now they've got a big foam head thing which I don't like very much.

=Z=
Still haven't seen any photos fo the big foam head thing. Do you have any? I'm pictuting something like the Syracuse mascot (which happens to be my 2nd favorite in all of sports), but perhaps I'm way off.
No - it's more in the line of the Michigan State Spartan foam head guy.

True.
The Amherst guy could be some trust-fund kiddie with a Bimmer and a charge card who scraped by on grades but ended up with a fabu job and career because of the connections.
Meanwhile, the University of Louisiana grad is the best damn ditch-digger this county has ever seen!
Man, that kid can dig!

Amherst was crawling with kids from privilege.
Some could handle it and some were complete jack-asses who I really never want to deal with again.
I, being the son of an electrical engineer from Iowa, was not one of those rich kids.
I was, however, quite popular because I had a pick-up truck.
Chevy Luv, baby!

Amherst Runs Wild Against Tufts to Move to 5-1

http://www.amherst.edu/sports/current/football/1028_tufts.html

October 28 , 2006
AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College football team improved to 5-1 on the season with a convincing 24-6 win over visiting Tufts University Saturday. On an afternoon which saw all other Amherst athletics action either cancelled or postponed due to heavy rain and wind, Amherst rode the shoulders of its running game to victory.

Next week - a visit to 5-1 Trinity.

Jeffs Blanked by Trinity for Second Loss of Season

http://www.amherst.edu/sports/current/football/1104_Trinity.html

November 4 , 2006

HARTFORD, CT – The Amherst College football team dropped its second game of the season, as the Trinity College Bantams dominated the Lord Jeffs from start to finish for the 24-0 victory.
Amherst drops to 5-2, while Trinity improves to 6-1 and takes sole possession of second place in the NESCAC standings.

Next up - the hated Ephmen of Williams College in the season finale at Pratt Field in Amherst.
I'll be at Joe Senser's in Bloomington to watch.

=Z=
VOTE TOMORROW.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
