Bridgewater State sets records in 57-1 victory

I don't think the other team showed up

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (AP) - Bridgewater State set NCAA Division III records for runs, hits, RBIs and victory margin Monday, routing Newbury 57-1 in seven innings.

Steve Smith had seven hits, 10 RBIs and scored seven times to help Bridgewater State break the records for runs and margin of victory set in Marietta's 48-0 victory over La Roche in 1999. Smith tied the record for hits in a game.
Bridgewater also set records for RBIs with 54 and hits with 42. The 54 RBIs broke the mark of 43 set in Suffolk's victory over Southern Vermont in 2005, and the 44 hits topped the record of 42 set by Baldwin-Wallace in a 2002 win over Lake Erie.

Newbury might want to consider getting a pitcher or two.

Well......obviously I do not know the history between these two schools....but if there wasnt bad blood in the past...there would be now.

I am all for letting the athletes play the game....but come on....
If I were on the field, there would have been a fight breaking out for every run scored after 20!
That is just very poor sportsmanship in my opinion.
    :-\

I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

Sounds like no one on that teams roster could pitch.

When are they meeting with Ponson?

Why didn't they skip him in the rotation and have Bonser start last night?

They should have let Ponson start against any team other than the Yankees.

Yeah and why was Redmond the DH? Now the little bit of confidence Ponson had is gone, and we are 4-2.

Oh well, 160-2 isn't too bad.

Wow, why would a coach keep running up the score? That is craziness. On a side note my softball team was no hit yesterday. 14 of the 15 hitters that went to the plate struckout. The other one walked (thank God it wasn't a perfect game lol) but then she was thrown out trying to steal second!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!
