Thread: Best Ever All Time College FB Players

Rivals is holding a contest as to the best college football players of all time. I am surprised at some of the leading entries. I mean Calvin Johnson and Vice Young were great players but to rate them the best of all time is a joke.
Anyway, I got to thinking about the greatest Minnesota football players of all time. Many of them I remember watching.
Bobby Bell
Paul Giel
Leo Nomellini
Eddie Rogers
Bruce Smith
Clayton Tonnemaker
Dick Wilding
and of course the best of all time - Bronco Nagurski

On other teams who can forget
Alan Ameche
Sammy Baugh
Jim Brown
Red Grange
Tom Harmon
Sid Luckman
just to name a few. None of them are on the Rivals List.

griffin should be higher.

Not everyone may like Wisconsin, few here probably do, but Ron Dayne (the all time leading rusher in college football history) should be ranked higher than 19th. May not have been a great pro rb, but was a great college rb.

Wow.
I couldn't vote.
It was too despressing.
I got through RBs (Gale Sayers and Tony Dorsett were my votes) but the QB selections were just wrong.
How can you have lists like that that leave out someone like Tommie Frazier or some of those guys from BYU in the late 70s and early 80s?

Calvin Johnson ahead of Randy Moss? I think not.

Moss left Marshall after 2 seasons with 168 receptions for 3,467 yards and 53 touchdowns.

Calvin Johnson in 3 seasons had 178 receptions for 2,927 yards and 28 TDs.


And Vince Young!? Not a chance.
