The thread rating helps maybe in what Del Rio said.
    Or the Leaders doing infractions.

However, the community aspects are important.
Some younger members may not have the football chops to spew statistics.
Maybe they simply believe what they want.
Nothing is wrong with that if they can back it up, right, with an opinion?

This is the strongest community I have been to in which we can also mention other things...people feel comfortable sharing with this group.

    That is important.

Prophet always posting news to trick people...that got old.
    The gathered some ill-will.
Many of his other posts are great.

    So did I care?
    Not really.
Let him be a member and enjoy himself.
This is not about micromanaging people.
This is about guiding a community via the leadership.

My biggest issues (in no order):
    1.
    Thread Hijacking
    2.
Unwarranted newbie bashing; warranted certainly okay
    3.
No gentle ways to control and train newbies
(community feedback for getting people in line)
    4.
No 5 strikes and you're out policy (or whatever)
    5.
Upturn in actual football analysis but the perception is less
    6.
Community strength is potential weakness (bridge those gaps)
    7.
Mod actions or lack of action

I feel like I have a handle on 3 and 4 in our transition.

    Just a thought:

I remember that it took me like 5 tries to finally get "Approved" to enter the site ... maybe automatically decline people like two times when they apply and allow them in the third time??

Then maybe we will get the "quality" of members we are looking for??
The people who really want to contribute and be part of the site.

I know COJO and I have argued on stuff before, and I do not rember calling him out or anyone on articles so I hope that isn't me.

I will have to say this.

If one person can make it so you stop posting then that isn't right. You can't have 7000 people going around worrying about hurting someones feelings. This isn't Dr. Phil chatroom this is an NFL football site. Cojo I miss your articles you should have just told him to blow it out of his ass, and elevate it to Webby if you had to.

I feel like I have a handle on 3 and 4 in our transition.
On 3, I have long felt that there should be a way to get newbies to actually READ the rules before they can actually join...maybe a SHORT quiz that they have to answer before they join (only a question or two, where they can get the answers from the rules section).
It's tricky, because they might figure that it isn't worth the effort...but maybe to get FULL privileges during a probationary period, they might have to answer the short quiz.
I think that if they realize how important it is to follow a few simple rules in order to make this a more enjoyable board, then we might get better cooperation on this issue.

Hmmm, yes something needs to be done. I like the ideas being tossed around & its good to brainstorm new things. That being said, when we have more and more people signing up here, you get a higher chance of things getting out of control. People come in with their own ideas & may come from another forum where flaming is acceptable. Then they come here & continue that trend. It'll be tough to filter out, but that's one of the things what we need to discuss.

We need sponsors for new people. Every HOF gets 3 newbs to be responsible for. You show them the ropes they get introduced through a member that is established and the community grows. After so many days or posts whatever they are set free.

Hmmm...not a bad idea...kinda like the next level down from Moderator...SPONSOR!

So how do we match up newbies with sponsors...all the assholes go to Del, all the hot women go to Cajun, etc.???

    Totally random.

Seriously though it sounds funny but it could be implemented in some form. That way instead of them reading the rules a person could go over them. They would feel more welcomed.

Maybe have an option if you want to be able to post or not. If all you want to do if read then there is no point in sponsoring. There is a free beer forumn it is supposed to be that way sort of. Mostly people just say HI welcome aboard this way you take it a step further.
