listen positive ones you can list all the players in the world, but we were still 6-10.

    not pessimisticly 6-10, realistically 6-10.

so the fact that we are basically the same team outside of getting some draft picks back from injuries that pretty much still makes them rookies, make for a somewhat glib situation.

am i writing off the season?
    no, pooh happens.

but the coaching was not great last year and like i said in my statement we have not addressed the problems we had last year as of yet and an already thin free agent class is pretty much stripped of impact talent now.

so we pretty much have to have a great draft and hope it all comes together.

but that's alot to hope for guys when you look around the league.

san fran beat us 9-3 right and maybe they ridiculously overpaid for some free agents, they still improved a team that was better than us last year.

    is that realistic?
As others stated we were close on several losses last year.
The fact that there were key injuries and changes make me optimistic about the 2007 season.
To back up what I am saying:
    1) Chad Greenway - sure he was a rookie and we don't know how he will do.
However having a year of just watching and his vigerous training to get back into shape lead me to believe he will be a beast just as AJ Hawk was for the Packers.
    2)
    Erasmus James will be back.
He showed definate promise the end of 2005 and looked good for the little bit he played in 2006.
That should help the pass rush which was a big reason we gave up a lot of passing yards.
    3) Artis Hicks will be gone. He will be replaced by Ryan Cook.
If Cook can cut down on penalties he looks pretty good. 4) The team as a whole had a lot of penalties and dropped passes.
If that happens we score a lot more points than we did last year.
It was one of the main reasons we didn't score as much as last year.
that would have won several more games.

I am not saying everything's perfect but there is reason to be optimistic for the 2007 season.
Give Chilly a chance and see who we come up with in the rest of free agency and the draft.
Once that is complete you and everyone else can have a better prognosis of this season.

    hey i'm down with that.
but obviously more work has to be done and we haven't done it yet.
i'm just hoping that there is a plan, cuz right now they seem a little to content for me.
from what i understand the right tackle spot is ryan cook's to lose not right guardand if it is, he better be better than his 2 starts cuz campman and little annialated him.
plus i think that's a stretch, he was a center who most acknowleged was a reach last year and needed work at his original position and now he's our starting right tackle.
    oh dear me.

    Whatever helps you sleep.

But negative people don't have a corner on reality.

Lets not write off the next season yet.
    FA means little.
exactly! look how well the Washington Redskins did after they made all those moves last season in FA, but i think the Vikings need to step it up and start making some serious bids on some guys that can come in and help teach these young guys. (feel weird being back) :-)

First i wanted the team to move up and draft Calvin Johnson, then i wanted to trade down for 2 early round picks but
now I say stay at 7 draft laRon Landry,
    at
41 - Rice, Meachum, jarret, or Jason HIll depending on whos left,
    at 72 a DE - Tim Crowder,
at 102 - OL - Josh Beekman or Ryan harris,
    and in FA:
    grab a Nick Harper,
a Cato June if he isnt too expensive,
and some help on the offensive line,
I know i will get slack for this one but if he comes really cheap a Drew Bledsoe to be a BACKUP just in case our great hope T-jackson doesnt fulfill our wishes we need an experienced quarterback in there to take his place

Thats not spending too much in Free Agency and its taking picks in the draft according to the posistions we need and that can help us right away

    Re: lets face it

last year we shoulda beaten the boars 2x.. and they were a SB playing team..

simple mistakes cost us last year plenty.. if half of those can be corrected we should be miles ahead of last year!! now why arn't we grabbing huge names and spending top dollar?
honestly do we really need to?

the draft-trades-and those fa's we have done seem to be filling the voides left by injuries and problems with our supposed big names last year.

we lost 3 starters before the season even started!!lets say our players stay healthy now.. aidding our allready beefy D is 2 very talanted starters who never played last year in a regular game.

we are developing a new WR core.. good.. maybe the shake up will bring out the next MN air stud.

we have a very very solid running corps!!

and our coaching staff has 1 year now of mistakes that they can work on, what was right, what was wrong.. how can we fix it all.

i don't truethfully understand how people can write off our season and the draft hasn't even happend yet.

wait till next jan.. and then look back into this thread.. i bet there's gonna be some crow cookin, but either way i'll still be a viking fan, and hope for the best that can happen..

    Whew,

Here is what I would do.

    at 7 draft laRon Landry.
To high for him. Take one of the two DE Adams/Anderson as one will be available.
We can fix all of our secondary problems with a pass rush.
Maybe a DB in the later rounds.
    at
41 - Rice, Meachum, jarret, or Jason HIll.

I agree here on WR, Rice might be left, but think it will be Johnnie Lee Higgins.
at 72 a DE - Tim Crowder Not bad, however, because I took a DE with the first pick I would take another WR here.
Possesion type guy say Matt Trannon TE/WR 6'6 235 Michigan St.
Could be a TE or WR.
at 102 - OL - Josh Beekman or Ryan harris, YUP.
Can't agree with both of these but OG is a good value pick here.
Would also like to see maybe a vet in FA but not much out there.
    and in FA:
a Cato June if he isnt too expensive.
To small, converted safety, more of a 3-4 guy.

Just a couple of thoughts/ideas for ya.
