It is considered polite to light a match after passing gas. Not while on a plane.
An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing Monday morning after a passenger lit a match to disguise the scent of flatulence, authorities said.
The Dallas-bound flight was diverted to Nashville after several passengers reported smelling burning sulfur from the matches, said Lynne Lowrance, spokeswoman for the Nashville International Airport Authority. All 99 passengers and five crew members were taken off and screened while the plane was searched and luggage was screened.
The FBI questioned a passenger who admitted she struck the matches in an attempt to conceal a "body odor," Lowrance said. She had an unspecified medical condition, authorities said.
"It's humorous in a way but you feel sorry for the individual, as well," she said. "It's unusual that someone would go to those measures to cover it up."
The flight took off again, but the woman was not allowed back on the plane. The woman, who was not identified, was not charged in the incident.
Ok...maybe its a double standard....but from a guy...this wouldnt shock me...from a woman...
That is just hilarious!
I wonder if she will make the late night talk show circuit for having a fart so bad it forced an emergency landing of an airliner!I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

Unusual measures?! That's called "at the very minimum" measure to take at our house."It's unusual that someone would go to those measures to cover it up."

Personally, I don't think there is intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?

Re: Flatulence forces plane to land
The right thing to do would have been just to let 'em rip...and laugh about it!
LOL
It's funny how it is considered rude to have natural, and sometimes uncontrollable, bodily reactions around others like belching and farting...but it is just fine to light up a cigarette or talk with a mouth full of food in a group.
The ways of the world are strange indeed!!!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Re: Flatulence forces plane to land
That is hilarious. What's even more funny is the fact that the plane took off again and the lady wasn't allowed back on!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!
