You can run any PC operating system on a Mac if you just buy this program:

My laptop has been great the last two years.
    No problems at all.
Meanwhile my Dell PC has been a constant headache for the past year.
My only complaint is their is no right click (you hold control and click instead).
Otherwise I find Macs are more user friendly.

You can't go wrong with Mac!

I don't know what kind of macbook you have or if mine is different but in the system preferences you can change it to have a right click.

Keep in mind here folks that Ned is not looking for a state of the art brand new laptop.

He's looking for something hopefully in the $200 dollar or less range for something used or refurbished that's for sale due to someone upgrading or getting a newer model. If new, I think he'd like to stay $300 or less
If thats all you are looking for then I would start with one of the following:

    $479
    http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...1=Under+%24500

Several deals here....(Of course I would make sure they gave tech support because they are used).

    http://www.usedlaptops.com/
    http://www.usedlaptops.com/150_350-r...d-laptops.html

Might be a bit more than you want to pay Ned, but some damn good deals.

Yeah, and most porn is made for WMP, so that is something to consider.

That's more the kind of stuff that works. Has anyone purchased a refurbished laptop before?

I purchase and work on refurbished laptops frequently.
If you know what your doing (somewhat computer savvy) and you dont need a lot of horsepower, sometimes they are great.

Of course I only purchase the upper end business class models, as they are typically used by people who take care of them, and turn them every couple of years since they want the horsepower.

I called a friend tonight to see where he got his from as they have 2 they purchased that they put in thier kids rooms just for email, school work and web browsing.

They gave me the usedlaptops.com site and said to google cheap, used laptops.

They have had pretty good luck with them, however, I would make sure that the seller gives tech support/warranty.

I love cnet for the info that I have gotten from it. Check out the clearance centers for the major stores Best buy, Circut ciity ect. Also I have a co-worker that got a great deal from overstock.com
