Ebay Vikings Jersey buying Guide
I sent this to Turboe in a PM, but I figured i'd share it with all of you.
I'm sure many of you have looked on ebay for what you thought was an "authentic" Vikings jersey.
Sorry to say, but likely, what you got is a Fake.
about 95% of all jerseys on ebay are fake.
However, that doesn't mean you can't get a good looking jersey, you just have to do your homework.
First things first.
If you ever see a jersey that says "Player of the Century"
Do NOT get it.
It is a cheap piece of crap.
Anyway.
From what I've seen, there are 2 main types of "authentic" Vikings jerseys on ebay.
One type looks really good, and almost looks like a real authentic, You would really have to know the difference to tell.
The other is not as good, but still looks good.
Both are usually pretty good quality, but the really good looking ones tend to be harder to find, and therefore more expensive.
about the types of fakes
Very Good Fake:

Not as good fake Fake

You'll notice a few things.
On the good fake, the colour is better, on the other one, the colour actually appears more blue.
(keep in mind, the flash makes it look more blue than it really is)
Also, notice that on the good fake, the VIKINGS word on the chest is outlined in yellow, but on the other it is not
You'll also notice on the good one, the yellow border is more noticable and the collar gets skinnier as it gets closer to the NFL Equipment patch.
Good fake:

Other Fake:

Notice that on the good fake, the numbers are more rounded, on the other one, the numbers are very square (The numbers are also crinkled, but thats more to do with a bad packaging job than a fault.
Probably the easiest way to tell is by looking at the back
Good Fake:

Other Fake:

Notice on the other fake, there is a Serif on the bottom right of the "N"
That is not supposed to be there in a real authentic jersey.
Good Fake:

Other Fake:

Notice that the Mesh on the back of the jersey actually extends almost to the top on the good one.
(it also does this in an authentic jersey)
On the other Fake, the Mesh ends under the nameplate, and then the top is all a solid fabric.
good fake:

other Fake:

Re: Ebay Vikings Jersey buying Guide
I got an away Adrian Peterson Jersey on Ebay, won it for 20 bucks and 10 shipping. $30 bucks and it is a good fake. I would rather pay $30 for a good fake then $79-$200 for an authentic.
Question: How can these legally make these jerseys? wouldn't it be copywrite infrigment?

Re: Ebay Vikings Jersey buying Guide
i think my BB uni from vikings.com is a fake, i bought a replica uni from there, and instead of the numbers and names printed on or w/e, its like fake stitched on, the numbers and letters feel like plastic, and i put it in the was once and the numbers cracked, odd, ill put up some pics maybe 2moro of it

Re: Ebay Vikings Jersey buying Guide
especially for some of the younger members here, they are perfectly fine quality wise.
Not quite as good as the real thing, but many of the young members especially, and lots of older ones too, don't have $250 to throw at a jersey.
IMO, buy a fake now, and save up and get a real one when you get a real job if thats what you want.
Ive bought many fakes, but I seriously do plan on buying an authentic one from NFLSHOP one day when i'm done school and have money to spare.

Re: Ebay Vikings Jersey buying Guide
Hey guys, I have a question. I am thinking about buying a jersey or two on ebay. I am looking at buying at these. Fran Tarkenton, Cris Carter, and John Randle. I found Cris Carter jersey, but I want to know if it's fake.
Here is the first one I found.
