Zeus, NoDak Paul, anyone else, I need your help.
If you would be so kind.
Problem is, my dad is setting up his business in our garage, and he has this really nice big copy machine/printer. It only seems to be compatible with windows 98 though. So, we have the windows 98 CD and we want to install it.
However, windows XP is the current OS (yes I tried finding drivers for it to work on XP, no dice) and we have no disk for XP.
How can I reformat the computer, or erase windows XP and get WIN98 on?
Keep in mind I only have the windows 98 cd.
Thanks for the help.
Oh and my dad is also really only familiar with windows 98, so that's kind of the reason why too.

Ok, I found that, but I am still unclear on how to delete partitions and create new files.
It has been quite some time...

there should be no reason that those 98 drivers can't run that printer....you just have to do a creative install process. If you would be so kind.

XP can understand and handle those old mode drivers.

I agree with Webby.
XP was backwards compatible with the 98 drivers, even the TWAIN drivers that a lot of the older imaging components used.
What kind of printer/copier is it?Zeus wrote:

I believe it's an Xerox work center.
We wouldn't necessarily have to delete XP if we get it to work. It's just being a real SOB when I try to install it.

That's not something I've ever done.......my first thought is that the NTFS formatting of the disk is totally incompatible with 98.
But as Webby says, the 98 drivers should work on XP.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Re: Zeus, NoDak Paul, anyone else, I need your help.
So just pop the WIN98 cd in and try to extract the drivers?
I can sure try. Thanks for your guys' help so far.

Re: Zeus, NoDak Paul, anyone else, I need your help.
I had a Kodak printer which wasn't signed by Mister Softy and the think would always throw fits.
Reinstalls happened a lot.
Hopefully the Xerox was signed/compatible with MicroSoft.
Probably doesn't pertain to your problem, but I threw it out there anyway.
