Anyone know if uploading a wmv file to web site will work?

I tried this to my website, and all I get is numbers and code.

I don't know if it is going to work, but I am porting the wmv file into flash.

    ??

Then I will upload that to the site.

Make sure you uploaded it as a binary not and ascii file.
Check your ascii extension list in your ftp upload program
to make sure wmv is not on it.
Second make sure that windows media player is set to play wmv files as the default.
You may be opening it in notepad or something as the default reader for that file instead of windows media player.
Post the link to the wmv file and I will check it out.

    The flash attempt didn't work.
The Sorenson squeeze squeezed the sound out of it and it looked crappy

Just upload the wmv to your site and send me the url to it.
If it opens for me then the problem is your computer settings.
If not then it is the upload that is the problem

    If I read that correctly......

You are thinking that I need to re-upload it and take the setting off of auto detect and set it on binary?

    Re: WMV file

Hmmm.. I get a "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct."
when I put the link into media player.
I can download the file and save it...at least I let it start doing that. Its a huge file.
Says it will take almost 20 min to dl and that is on DSL.
You might check with your isp and see if they block stream of large files like this as it takes too much bandwidth.
They may not allow wmv to be played from their server especially large ones like this.

    Re: WMV file

The auto detect default should be ok if you didn't see it in the ascii list.
What is it a movie of?
