No a blog is an entry like a journal or like you have a article on a subject.
As for the nickname there is a thread about that right now.
Just make sure you read my last entry.

Blog is short for "web log". It is a name for an online journal that is open for anyone to view that would like to do so. They can be about any subject, be it personal life, sports, video games, or even midget wrestling. Pretty much anything goes.
