I'de agree with you 100% AWZeus.

Best thing for a young mind is a good book, or doing some constructive activities with Dad and Mom.

David has 3 honors certificates, as I type, hanging on the wall behind me over my office desk, he is also one of only 15 students in his grade level that was choosen to participate in an advanced edjucational program in our city where he and the others also go to school for the first 2 Saturdays every month. David, I've been told, is far and above his classmates in his studies and is a pleasure to have in their classes.

I'm very proud of him, and to this day we have never had any type of Nintendo games or PS in the house. But there are times when we visit others who have these type of games and he truly enjoys playing with them.

My wife and I have decided, he's earned the chance to have one, but at the same time we will decide just what games we let him have for the station......

Trust me, I'de be the first to box it up and throw it out if I noticed any troubles coming from it. But I also believe, kids should be let to be kids and learn as they grow. There is a good and bad to almost everything in life, if he has free time and has earned the right to play games at times, so be it......

Besides, Cajun said it right, Daddy wants to play some games also...

Thanks for all the other input by members here also.......

If you want him to have "mind" games, you can always get him something like Wheel Of Fortune, or Trivia Pursuit.. Something like that will make him use his mind in order to conquer the game..

I have a PS2 for my son who is 6 years old. I purchased Robots(from the movie) and Spryo the Dragon and he loves them. Of course with the PS2 you can play DVDs on it also.

go with the PS2 and buy an eyetoy to go with it. it's a camera that you can play dumb little games with, geared towards children. uses motion detection. that way if your wife says video games are bad and he should get some exercise, you can just get him to paly with the eyetoy(you don't use controllers at all, just your body movements)

for you i gotta agree with K-rob. socom 3 and madden are 2 great games.

maybe you could get him a SNES?
it's a kinda old school console but it rocks!

the games are mostly puzzle, Super Mario and that kind of stuff.
i can remember how thrilled i was when i was that age with a SNES.
 "Old school"? How young are you?

We had Atari with Pong. That's "old school".

That was even before the Atari 2600 came out with games like Doge'em, Asteroids, Combat, Pac-man & Centipede.

I believe the order was Atari Pong, Atari 2600, Nintendo & then SNES.

Atari came out in the 70's, but when Nintendo got into the video market, things really took off.

The SNES was definitely "cooler" than the Atari's. We bought one for our kids.

i don't know the exact order ut i think your right.
but if you compare the SNES with the consoles we have now, It's Definately Old school.

Nintendo 64 is in there somewhere also, but I'm not exactly sure if it was before or after SNES.
