First off, never rely on free web servers. Ignore those offers. Go get a plan for $2.95 a month to practive with. I can point you the right way.i am thinking about starting a website, and since this one is so good id l like to model it like this. how did you begin, and what would you recommend to do???
Second, never rely on a pre-built system. Most of your crap sites are because they use a system. Then they never learn how to customize and do cool things and you end up with a site that is no different then the others. Learn your HTML, learn the fundamentals of the web. Learn those first, then take steps into dynamic languages. Of course I omitted a boatload of things there.
I get so many requests for things like this around here I might just start a little section for it. As CIO, I mentor two beginning IT people a year and we are about to accept applications for the mentoring again for mid 2005 - early 2006. So when I have time I am more than willing to give you the straight scoop on things untarnished by sales pitches and other usual pitfalls of getting advice from computer folks. (d00d, I am 3l1te, and linux rox, all others suck! kind of crap)
Anyway, I'll move the discussion there.
