So I have been considering an iPhone purchase for a while now, but I feel like an extra 30 bucks a month is a little much for the data plan, so I was planning on getting an unlocked iPhone.

That way I can still do wifi, have my music and I still have my phone/texting all in the same place WITHOUT having to pay 30 bucks for GSM internet/data.

My question is this: 1) has anyone done this? Are you happy?

And 2) Is it easy to unlock it on your own? Could someone on here (someone I trust
;D) do it for me with confidence? Or should I drop $$$ for the already unlocked one on Ebay?

Any help would be fantastic.
