Troll? Eating crow? Am I the only one who dosen't get it?
I've been a member of PurplePride.org for about 6 months now, and I still haven't figured this out.
Maybe it's just me, but why does everyone say "eat crow"?
And why is everyone always calling each other "trolls"?
How did these sayings become so popular around here?
???In the P.J.'s, my blend tape plays, bullets are strays
Young bitches is grazed
Each block, is like a maze, full of black rats trapped
Plus the Island is packed
From what I hear in all the stories when my peoples come back, black

Common phrases, far from being invented here.
Just used here.
Eating crow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eat_crow
Troll: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll; it's Internet wide, not just this site.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive or offensive messages designed intentionally to annoy or antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion, including the personal attack of calling others trolls. Often, trolls assume multiple aliases, or sock puppets

To eat boiled crow is to be proven wrong after having strongly expressed one's opinion.
In North America the expression is simply to eat crow

PP80,
Eating Crow is done after you make a strong statement, like the Skins fan who was in here saying in no way we could beat them last night.
And now that we have, he should have the balls to come back here and eat some crow....Some may say, come back and get a taste of some Humble Pie.....
But I would be willing to bet the house on it, he won't come back and post , now the the Skins got beat.
Trolls are those guys and gals who just log on, usually as guest, then they will sign up as a member just to get one or two post in....Usually trying to talk smack, but usually they just put there own foot in the mouth.....
Both the Crow Eating and Trolls have been around here since I"ve joined...
We all eat some Crow at one point or other...... ;D
I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

These have been sayings on the net since the net began. Nothing new, every message board I have ever been on has had the terminology.

Re: Troll? Eating crow? Am I the only one who dosen't get it?
For many people, the characterising feature of trolling is the perception of intent to disrupt a community in some way. Inflammatory, sarcastic, disruptive or humorous content is posted, meant to draw other users into engaging the troll in a fruitless confrontation. The greater the reaction from the community the more likely the user is to troll again, as the person develops beliefs that certain actions achieve his/her goal to cause chaos. This gives rise to the often repeated protocol in Internet culture: "Do not feed the trolls."
Often, a person will post a sincere message about which he is emotionally sensitive. Skillful trolls know that an easy way to upset the person is to falsely claim that they are a "troll." In forums where most users are similar to each other, outsiders may be perceived as trolls simply because they do not fit into the social norms of that group. It can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between a user who merely has different values, views, or ideas, and a user who is intentionally trolling. This can lead to genuinely hostile behavior, including flame wars.
Internet troll communities have sprouted up all over the Internet. Troll groups are often established after their members' ill behavior is not permitted or tolerated on regular forums
