    Spell Check

    Spell Check.

Going through the forums and seeing tons of poor spelling just drives me nuts.

It's a serious pet peeve of mine, and I have seen other forums with a spell check, and was just wondering if it would be possible for it to be added.

Hopefully people would use it, but unfortunately you can not control that.

    Re: Spell Check

As long as you can understand what people are saying it doesn't really bother me - I do my best but I don't really worry about it. What pisses me off is when we have sk8ers on here who replace letters with numbers!

    Thanks PPE for the sig.

Bad spelling doesn't bother me THAT much, I'd like a homonym checker though. It bothers me to see there, their and they're used interchangeably! lol

Bothers the crap out of me. It isn't hard to actually use your language properly. When you don't write well or frame your sentences properly, it reflects poorly on that poster. But lots of people don't care, so I gave up dealing with it. We had a spell checker on the thing here but it was unused. LOL

    http://www.iespell.com/

Its free....it works.... it installs right to your browser tool bar. It helps to keep you from looking like a stupid packer fan that doesn't care if they look ignorant. And using it over time really helps you out if in fact you are a crappy speller. When I read poorly spelled posts I tend to discount what the poster is saying a bit because you begin to think that it is just a 3rd grade kid posting.

Content well thats another matter.

Yeah, poor spelling and grammar bugs me too, but I deal with it. I think webby's right - no one would use it!

    Re: Spell Check

Tends to be the younger posters; they haven't probably had the perspective yet of how much your writing skills affects what you're able to get done in life. Perception: people make snap judgments based on things like that.

I get resumes with poor spelling, gone. I get them with improper grammar, gone. You'd be amazed how many job seekers haven't a clue about the language. So if they are that lazy in English how can I trust they can code a programming language?

People say, "Bah, its a forum. I don't care." But really it comes down to the more you excercise the old noggin and a skill the better you perform. If you're always sloppy, then its far more difficult to snap into real world scenarios for a lot of people. Then there's folks like Cajun who jump between faneese and legaleese like a greased pig.

Oh well. Just a friendly pointer from a few of us that have been around the block is what this thread boils down to, am I right?
