    Sig restrictions

Its my pet peeve...as i'm scrolling the forums, people have huge sigs. I know some people wont have the best computers so it increases loading time, not to mention cleans up the boards for a more professional look and neater.

I think the restrictions should be:

    1 image per sig
Sig image size must be 480x150 or below
    300 letter charactor limit.

Many boards i post on have rules like this, the boards are easier to read, look better, ect.

300 letter character limit? Why? To appease everyone with ADD? Long posts (most of them, anyway) show that some thought was put into them. If you're still talking about sigs, I haven't seen ANY sigs on here that have more than 300 letters in them.

(203, for those who were counting...do I pass? LOL)

No offense, but I think that decision belongs to Webby. If you have a problem with it, I'd PM him.

    Re: Sig restrictions

We ask members to have a sig that is not huge due to bandwidth costs.

I realize that people with older PC's and dial-up experience a slower loading page. We make every attempt to kindly ask people to resize their sigs. I have asked people and they have always been willing to do so.

I have an ok PC and high speed internet. The sigs that slow me down are the animated GIF's. These need to be saved in Flash format. Webby can be more helpful on that topic than I.

    Re: Sig restrictions

That's cause the animated gifs have to load all the frames that are part of the animation. A number of the sites I've been to have a 50kb - 75kb size limit on the sigs. There aren't too many people that put much text in their sigs, so that's not usually much of a problem. If people request sigs from me, I try to keep the results around 50kb, so I know I've already knocked two huge sigs off the forum, and replaced them with something a bit more managable, and who knows, there may be more on the way.
