Online Forum
Okay, I'm going to swallow my pride and ask this out. Webby, shock, neum, you guys can laugh at me and then maybe offer a little advice.

I've been authorized by my boss at my summer job to set up a forum. I want to administrate it, but I seriously know NOTHING about coding, php, mysquirrel, or HTML for that matter (I do use FrontPage for my regular job).
I've seen some intense forum boards, this one included, with lots of bells and whistles, but I don't know how to code. I do have some money to spend (maybe a couple hundred a year) and the rest I would put in myself.
I'm considering a hosted site, like Invision, where they will take care of everything and I just have to worry about running the site, not the "nuts and bolts". But I've had other people tell me to get a server and host it myself. (whaaa-haaaaa...it sounds so simple).
Any ideas? I know what I WANT, and php seems to offer it moreso than the Invisions and other formats.Have you ever seen a race of turtles, and they all go the wrong way instead of towards the finish line?
Welcome to the NFC North.

Re: Online Forum
You are just going to have to read a bunch LOS

I use invision power board on my chess site and the admin panel is pretty easy to use. If you want to customize it you will have to learn how and where to hack the php. Its not all that hard and there are lots of help forums out there with tips and tricks.
Get your own site through a hosting service is my suggestion. I use
POWWEB
They are cheap and offer a lot of options. The thing I like about them is you have total access to your CGI, mysql scripts.
Also lose front page. It is a horrible html coder.
