The order of "Power Up" should be:

1.
Cable box
2.
Cable modem
3.
Wireless router

Unplugging the modem w/out recycling the router will cause issues, as you seem to have experienced.

What the hell is a cable box? I never unplug the cable modem I just turn the on/off switch to off or standby, whatever the hell it is. The light is still on. The wireless router is always on and does not have an off switch. I always have it plugged in.

Not for the TV?

In any case - my cable modem doesn't have an off switch.
When I want to recycle it, I pull the plug out of the back.

Probably the best idea.
Each time you restart it, it has to re-acquire the connection to the cable company and all that.

cable modems blow...but they are necessary, right....just dont reset unless you need to.
