Internet disconnecting and connecting again?!

My internet keeps disconnecting and connecting again
very often. Anyone know what is going on? It happens a couple times an hour. It just started recently.

If you have a router trying connecting your computer direct to your modem.

If it stops time for a new modem, if it contuines time for a new cable modem.

Last if it still seems weird try gettign a friends laptop and try the above steps it could be your P.C.

Did you call your ISP help desk?
They might be having some infrastructure or server issues.

1. Push in the reset button on the back of the modem to reset it.

2. If it continues to do it, time for a new modem. Mine was doing that, but not quite as often & I had it replaced with a new wireless modem. Problem is solved. Not to mention my speed picked up.

Mine does this, but its only like once a week and only when I have too many things running on the cpu. I use network magic to control the connects (laptop, cpu, xbox).

Thanks man. That is what someone else mentioned to me. I just bought a wireless router so that kind of sucks.

did you just plug in the wifi and go or did you configure it?

i was having some problems, until my isp walked me through configuring my wifi and modem

Be very careful plugging you pc directly into your internet connection, as at that time you are without a firewall.
Hopefully you have a router (firewall) between you and the internet.
If not, get one.

If your using wireless to connect to your router, try plugging in and seeing if that helps.

More information would be nice, such as if your using wireless, if you have a router, or if other computers (if you have any) are having the same issues.

I have a modem supplied by my internet provider which runs to my wired/wireless router. I have three things plugged into the router. My Xbox 360 and my desktop PC are wired. I have a laptop that I use that runs wireless. My laptop and Xbox do the same thing sometimes.

Did the problem occur right after you installed the wireless router? Are there phone filters plugged into every phone jack that have any device, including phones & satellite dish receivers plugged into them? Are they plugged into the correct port of the filter? There is a difference.

Who is your ISP provider? What type of router did you install? What type of modem do you have & how old is it?
