Thread: How to submit a story to Sports Illustrated?

I can't get into details about the story right now but,
I do have a story I'de like to write and I think it would make for some really good reading in a magazine like Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, or maybe even to a web site like PFT...





I can write whats on my mind and how I feel, from start to end, but first thing I would need is a proof reader to fix all my errors.





Second, how and where would I submit the story?





To whom would one submit the storry?





Has any one here ever written a story that was published in a mag ?





Maybe even another member here would like to help me with it?.





Figured I'de start here and see where it will lead me, but I really want to see this story get some recognition...

tough question Ned. I guess I see a couple of avenues. They must have a contact for each of those that people can submit stories, ideas ect. It may just be a matter of searching around the site.

Otherwise talk with a local reporter, pitch the idea to them, if they like it then maybe they could help pitch the idea, It may be a case of because they have a "name and titlle" to a newspaper ect. They would have more influence about getting a story accepted, than Joe Blow who may have a great story.

I'll be your editor, Ned...I do it for all of my wife's papers as it is right now.

As for the submission thing, maybe Nephilim, midgensa or even bono can help on that front.
