HELP! Those in the IT Industry

Ok since we are spewing out life's issues on the forum Here is mine.
I am kind of in a fix. I am 4 classes away from graduating (Masters in Software Systems in MN). Got NO IT background whatsoever ( I mean NOTHING) and been trying for over the past 8 months to get an entry level position IT position in MN so I can build some experience.
Need I say NO luck yet? Its been a very frustrating experience.
I have been through Temp Agencies, Head hunter and many companies yet nothing.
Anyway I would appreciate any tips and advise anyone may have.
    Thank you guys!

One must call back after that one submits his or her application. If lucky to land an interview, that one should write a thank you not to the interviewer, even though that one may despise writing thank you notes, myself included.
I Love Kerry Collins (and John Rocker).

How restrictive is your search? Often times the ideal entry level position may open up somewhere outside the region that you are looking for.

Also, there several companies, such as Volt, who specialize in placing IT personnel. I would definately give them a try.

You should also post your resume on Monster and several of the other online career sites. Many times recruiting companies will use them as resources.

Finally, just start sending out your resume. Research the IT companies in MN and go to their employment sections on their web page. Usually they will have an address to send in resumes. Also look in ND, IA, and WI. Even if there are no jobs listed, send out your cover letter and resume. You never know when you will get a bite. make sure you use your university's career center to review your cover letter and resue before you send it out. A poorly written resume or letter can kill your chances at an interview.

Good luck. The IT industry is competitive, but the jobs do exist.

Also, what school are you graduating from? Most schools have a job placement program, or sources within the region for job placement. Many companies check with the colleges for future employees.

Some of my friends in Minnesota work in the following companies, and they started after finishing their bachelors, so I guess they should have some entry level openoings
    GMAC-RFC, Thomson West, Unisys
I think the best way to get an entry level position is through the agencies like Volt, Entegee. The thing that sux is that although they advertise the position as an entry level, they still look for some experience in terms of internships or professional experience, it's really hard to just get into the industry, once you get in within couple years you call your shots.
