    Help with recording live music

I have a song that I would like to record and put on a live-stream or a CD for a friend.
What software do I need to pull this off?
It doesn't have to be studio quality.
Just playing the guitar and recording it.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I remember that now, I sent him a pm.
    Anyone else with advice?
Are there any freeware programs or default programs on the computer to use or do you have to buy software?
I'm sure the answer is in front of my face, but I'm missing it.

To record stuff for my band and personal use I use a really simple program called Audacity. It was on my computer when I got it.. not sure if it's freeware or not. Try getting sound forge or Audacity on the net or like a trial version of one of them.
